Black or White

Black Or White Debuted as Michael Jackson's first Dangerous Single

Holding a record viewing audience, "Black or White" was also The debuting single off of Dangerous. Hitting the record stores on October of '91. Reaching #1 in over 20 countries. A milestone unsurpassed to this very day!

Reaching #1 on the Billboard Top 100 in just three weeks! The only other single to achieve such a feat was a single "Get Back" by The Beatles in 1969. Michael and Elvis are the only two Americans to top the U.K. Charts-"It's Now Or Never" & "Black Or White". And to date, no other artist in history has topped the charts from the 70's, 80's, or 90's!

Such a large viewing audience was obviously due in part to his charming charisma during the days of Thriller & Bad. We all couldn't get enough of The Gloved One. From his behind the curtain posture, thoroughly entertaining music videos to those gravity-defying dance steps, we were definitely hooked!

It's no different with this one. Michael shows he's relevance to a whole new generation. This time, teaching a thing or two about racial equality. Truly, the four-year hiatus was over. The king was back to reclaim his throne!

Black Or White-The Short Film

It appears the opening has a personality clash. The father cannot stand his sons taste of music. So Macaulay Culkin blasts him away to Michael Jackson's music(something even he finds to enjoy). Where he teaches him a thing or two about unity in diversity.

According to the pop star, your either "black or white or stuck between the beat." There ain't no politics about it. As Martin Luther King so eloquently put it "A man should judge another according to the contents of his character. Not the color of his skin."

The whole film went smoothly until the last four minutes. At first glance, he's busting the streets with breath-taking steps. Expressing outrage at a restaurants policy of discrimination. He further busts windows containing KKK and Panther racial slurs(We can understand the violence in that respect).

Yet suddenly, he gets the nerve to masturbate on top of hoods and zip up his fly to prove he was fondling his own crotch(now I understand he claimed to only imitate the instincts of a black panther, yet I don't see how it remotely relates to the films overall theme).

When all is said and done, the bigoted joint is in shambles and he morphs back into a panther and takes off down the dark alley.

:After all this time, we were watching Homer's Television Set. The films resolution exclaims "prejudice is ignorance" before Bart turns it off.

I'll try to give Michael at least some benefit of the doubt. Just maybe Jackson felt disgust over political airbag promises. Saying one thing and doing another. After all, he did offer a formal apology and mentioned getting being outraged at the thought of sexism and racism. But as much as I love this guy and his music, Michael Jackson has too much talent to resort to this kind of indecency.

John Landis(who also did "Thriller) is the one who directed the film. "Cut...What the heck was that?!" Super Model Tyre Banks is the last morphing head. "Cut!..That was great!..How did you do that?!"

Bill Bottrell wrote and performed a Rap segment for the songs climax(who also played as the kids father on the intro to the songs album version). It was Uncle Buck all over again. George Wendt and Macaulay Culkin played as father and son.

Heal the World

Heal The World became one of Michael Jackson's most memorial philanthropic songs

"Heal The World" reached a lofty #2 on the U.K. Charts. Becoming one of Michael Jackson's most humanitarian hits along with "We Are The World", "Man In The Mirror", "History", and eventually "Cry".

1. Album version
2. 7" edit w/intro

4. Spoken version

Time alone spent on his Neverland sycamore tree(a.k.a. The Giving Tree) is where it all began. On one good evening, way up on a sycamore branch was Mr. Jackson deep in thought. Digging deep for inspiration. Suddenly a tune was stuck in his head. That night, Jackson composed all the lyrics to the song. Quickly he rushed for his tape recorder and beatboxed the whole song in acappella. To this day, Michael views this song as one of his most cherished accomplishments.

Just two years late Michael established(out of his own money) "Heal The World Foundation". An organization which not only helps the less fortunate but equips them to help others in like manner. They have since expanded to start another foundation-"Heal The Kids". Very similar to it's parent. Only with a stronger emphasis on children.

Heal The World-The Short Film

A really great commentary on Michael's heart. It reveals his child-like innocence. Helping us grown-ups to look at the world in the eyes of a child.

When we look at how fortunate we are as Americans and the plight of our fellow neighbors on foreign soil. You can't help but to 'make the world a better place".

Can't Let Her Get Away

I'm a bit up and down on this one. As Michael's vocals are are fairly raspy under clenched teeth(as with "Jam", "Dangerous", and "who Is It"). But the factory-like percussion and the incredible Rap coming from MJ's lips is incredible! Always giving me pictures of Michael break-dancing in an urban junk-yard factory. Venting his anger on the assembly lines.

Both him and Teddy Riley wrote and mixed this puppy in the studios. According to Mr. Riley, the composition and sound effects come from several different mix tapes put together meticulously from his vault.

According to the lyrics, Michael is deeply grieved and angry of his lover for cheating and getting away with it. Boy does he feel the urge to get even. But then rebukes his anger and says to "Just let it Go and move on....."

Remember the Time

Michael Jackson's #1 Soul Train Hit single Remember The Time

:It was March of 1992. Another R&B top of the pops hits the stores packed with several groovy mixes-"Remember The Time" climbed up to #1 on both the R&B Singles Charts and Soul Train Singles Charts! As a matter of fact, Michael Jackson won an award in account of the latter.

While rehearsing for that ceremony(Soul Train Awards), Michael severely sprained his ankle. Many panicked and thought he would ditch the performance. But lo and behold, The King of Pop grooved on his throne and gave one heck of a performance. To hear him sing live, Click Here.

Both Mr. Jackson and Teddy were looking for a traditional sound for track #5. Hearing a few of Riley's mix tapes, it dawned on him! Suddenly a hunch drove him to create a sound that would both satisfy old and new fans alike! A nostalgic MJ tune with a modern twist. Only problem, there were no words to fill in the gaps.

So Michael, Teddy, and Bernard all sat down and composed some love lyrics. About a lover reminding his beloved of fonder times and wooing her back into his arms. The result was spectacular! Radio stations would definitely go for this!

Many wonderful remixes were orchestrated by the Father of New Jack Swing with the input of Michael Jackson. These mixes can be found on the Dangerous Maxi single. Here's an exhaustive list for you to delve into...

Remember The Time-The Short Film

The Queen(Iman) is board to tears(I would be to). So The Pharaoh(a.k.a. Eddie Murphy) demands to be amused. Magic Johnson plays host to Pharaohs entertainment. The first two contestants failed miserably and were executed on account of that. It wouldn't be until the third one shows up, dressed in a hooded-garment. Armed with nothing but a pouch of sand.

Pharaoh taunts the meek and lowly figure who sprinkles the tapestry with magic sand. Before Magic Johnson could cringe at the site of another execution, the man mysteriously vanishes! The pile of rubble in his wake morphs into Michael Jackson! The whole palace is left abuzz! Soon enough, all his servants are hypnotized to dance with The King of Pop.

Pharaoh is left speechless of the spectacle! He was ready to leave him second in command. Until Michael messed with his girl.

A massive chase ensues through the winding corridors of Egypt. Led by his bodyguard(who's name is Tom Tiny Lester Jr.). All Michael did was reclaim what the King took by force-His wife!

All the kings servants are now dancing to the beat of a different drum. Michael Jackson leads them on to walk like an Egyptian!

As Pharaoh catches up, Michael plays catch me if you can then whirls once again into a pile of drifting sand. Blown away just like how he feels about his lot in life.

From the moment Thriller hit the airwaves, Michael has been caught-up in a whirlwind of fame only enjoyed by Elvis, Frank Sinatra, and The Beatles.

No longer can he go to the bookstore or eat at a restaurant without a body guard by his side. Although many hung by his side, loneliness still weighed heavily upon his chest. Even though he was on the top, Michael was not immune to the human condition. The ever nagging search for meaning.

She Drives Me Wild

Each time hearing this tune on my headsets, I envision Michael dancing down an urban street alley. Illuminating streetlights, punkin' up junkyard cars, and setting off parking meters along the walkway. Much like "Billie Jean". Only on a more 90's twist infused with a little New Jack Swing!

Who knows? Maybe he did something to that affect on a short promo which never saw daylight. If so, I believe this would've been the perfect combination. Just a bit of nostalgia mingled in contemporary suburbia!

Teddy Riley picked-up some urban sounds from the city, brought them into the studio, and mixed them with the King of Pop until another song had given birth! "She Drives Me Wild" was a pioneering technique no other artist had attempted until then(if only stuck with using every paraphrase to not swear).

Lyrics

She's got the look
She so fine
And you know darn well
The girl will be mine

She got the breaks
She the scene
And you know darn well
She gives it to me
Uh-huh

Black jeans and a turtleneck sweater
I know the girl is fakin' cuz I've seen her look better

She composition
She statistical fact
Got it ready
For the willing
Got it kickin' in the back

(She's got the look...walkin' in your direction
She's got the look...she's drivin' me wild)
(She's got the look...walkin' in your direction
She's got the look...she's drivin' me wild)

Come to the place
Shock to see
And you know darn well
You know what I mean

Hot in the face
1 and 3
Like a pleasure trip
That you've never seen(uh-hue)

Satin lace and a paisley tuck dress
The girl is waisting over
And she know she looks hot

She got position
She got just what it takes
Got a mojo in her pocket
Got it ready just in case

(She's got the look...walkin' in your direction
She's got the look...she's drivin' me wild)
That girl's my baby...Uh-huh
(She's got the look...walkin' in your direction
She's got the look...she's drivin' me wild)

(Rap by Aquil Davidson)
*Please, no I can't take it
She's drivin' me wild
My life won't make it
You got me lookin' like buckwheat
(Uh-huh)
Hair blows every which way but me
Far from a distance your looks are stunning
Walks and talks till I hear the medley
Oh it's like a temple that does cramp my style
She-drives-me-wild*

(hoo!)
(She's got the look...)
(She's got the look...)
(She's got the look...walkin' in your direction
She's got the look...she's drivin' me wild)
That girl's my baby...
(She's got the look...walkin' in your direction
She's got the look...she's drivin' me wild)

In the Closet

In The Closet would become Michael Jackson's second #1 R&B single off of the Dangerous Album

It was feeding time at the zoo. Tabloids harnessed the opportunity to dabble on Jackson's sexuality. Everything from being gay, bi-sexual, and a transvestite was covered in the headlines. The King of Pop had now also become the King of Tabloids.

Nevertheless, folks just couldn't get enough of the song. Reaching #1 for R&B. Michaelmania was still alive and well across the globe.

With state of the art innovative sound-effects, He was always looking for something that's never been done before. You can definitely feel the shattered glass and the typical sound-effects you'd only find in a stuffy claustrophobic storage closet. Leave it to Michael for creating a pop sensation out of an ordinarily overlooked part of your house.

:Originally Madonna wanted to collaborate. Making it even more provocative. However Jackson didn't approve and wanted to keep it heterosexual.

In The Closet-The Short Film

Michael had a heck of a time counter-attacking those rumors questioning his sexual orientation. Tantalizing the media, Michael advises Naomi Campbell to keep their love a secret and not to arouse passion before it's time.
But I find that hard to believe.

To me, the film was too erotic and suggestive(the most explicit he's ever gone). I realize that sex sells. But must major celebrities unfortunately detour from the straight and narrow.:(

Why You Wanna Trip on Me

Michael questions the media. On why his looks are more of a priority then world hunger? Why Mr. Jackson's eccentricities are more urgent then poverty?

Though false allegations had not surfaced yet, many tabloids struck it gold spreading tell-tale alibis about The King of Pop! Even going so far as to call him a drag queen(The Latoya is Michael story).

As with "Jam", I felt his vocals were a bit over-dubbed and sounded very watery and desperate. Not to be on the negative, I loved the track. Especially it's rhythmic arrangements and hard knocks beat. Yet(in my opinion), they should of kept it real and laid off the mixers a bit.

During the recording sessions, Teddy Riley himself picks up an Ovation Acrostic Guitar and does a number for the intro. Thus mingling Heavy Medal sounds with R&B and taking it to the streets.

Jam

The Jam single featuring Heavy D would reach it's zenith at #3 on the charts

Released in 1991, "Jam" Features a Rap segment by Heavy D from "Heavy D & the Boyz". This Rapper was Michael's favorite at the time.

The story goes that one day an idea popped into MJ's head(It's a common tale with Michael Jackson). He rushed to the studios and begged Teddy Riley to process that tune(stuck in his head) as best as Riley knew how. So after Jerry Jay did the horns, he re-recorded the whole track and threw in a few extra bass hooks. The result became a high-energy pulsation with a drum machine on steroids! For the first time, Funk and Hip-Hop were in the same room together. No wonder why these two genres saw the highest ratings for "Jam"!

The single made #3 on U.S. Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks as well as t#4 for U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play!

As of today, there are currently 27 official alternate version and edits they worked on together in the Hit Factory Studio. Here is the complete exhaustive list...

Take my advice...Listen to the tune on "The Dangerous Album". Cause the one on "The Ultimate Collection Box Set" just hasn't got that oomph! Trust me, when you put those earphones on, you will know why!

Jam-The Short Film

All Michael Jordan came do was practice for the finals. Doing what he does best. But something keeps taking his mind off the game. A noise-an energy force is emanating from somewhere in this old factory. He can almost feel his shoulders grooving to the music.

After search far and wide for an ideal spot to practice, he throws the ball beyond the walls into another room. Oddly enough, there's no big thud. the ball returns and makes a whole-courter!

In awe, Michael Jordan approaches the other courtroom feeling the energy surging ever stronger through his body. To his utter ecstasy, Michael Jackson is in the same building rehearsing for his own concerts!

The force from his body made the ball shoot in one. Just like Jordan awakened something new within the King of Pop's mind, so he will awaken the NBA Star's sleeping gift. Teaching him how to do the Moonwalk!

There was a lot that didn't make it on the final viewing. Only a small portion of what they were working on landed on the final cut.

Michael Jackson Dangerous

Michael Jackson's second most selling album-Dangerous

Starting on June 25th, 1990 Jackson worked for a purported 16 months tweaking and sculpturing another work of art-The Dangerous Sessions. Anticipation became so great, armed bandits came and extorted 30,000 copies before the records came to a store near you!

At this time, Michael parted with Legendary producer Quincy Jones and at his discretion hired executive producer Teddy Riley. Known for his pioneering tactics of synergisticly mixing R&B, Soul, Hip-Hop, and various Urban beats into one wholesome genre-Namely New Jack Swing. Michael wanted to beak free from West Lake Studio and experiment with new sounds. Bill Bottrell(who previously worked with Quincy on Mick's "Victory and Bad album sessions) was re-hired for the new project.

As of still, "Dangerous" is the best-selling New Jack Swing album of all time! And at one time the #2 overall right below Thriller and even surpassing "Bad"! He also generated 7 top 10 singles! Becoming the first to do so on the U.K. Charts.

At first, Michael didn't care much for rap. But, when Riley took him to a Hip-Hop club one evening, his perspective changed! And from then on Jackson would feature a Rapping segment on each album.

Say Hello To Sony

Jackson signed a deal in March, 1991 estimated to be worth $1,000,000,000! The contract would last for 6 albums. Little did he know Tony Mottola would halt all his marketing endeavors in the future(read Michael Jackson's Invisible Era)!

His Appearance

Michael's skin tone turns from a light-skin frame mollado to a totally white complexion! Jackson must reveal his condition or else risk his image being thwarted! So the Gloved One seizes an opportunity to be a guest on the Opera Winfrey show. He specifically wanted to emphasis he loved his African American Descent and that Vitiligo(see Michael Jackson Skin Disease) is the reason for the lighter complexion(thereby debunking tabloids claiming Jacko's turned against his roots).

The Album

For a guy immersed with such talent and ingenuity, I did not think he needed to resort to the younger generation for sex & violence. Like grabbing his crotch on "Black or White" or the erotic twist with Naomi Campbell on the set of "In the Closet". Couple that with the over-dubbed watery vocals and Teddy's over-cranked industrialized bassline(someone remind him to turn it down a notch). I firmly believe his intense dancing and brilliant organic vocals would have been more then enough to appease the masses.

Nevertheless, it's tracks like Remember The Time, Black Or White, Heal The World, Gone Too Soon, and Will You Be There" which make this album worth a listen! "Jam" "Dangerous" and a few others are dance-floor savvy and relevant(to the early 90's). "Who Is It" is a bit too dragged and the demo to "Give Into Me" is way better then the official.

So in a nutshell, Dangerous to me is a small step down in quality from his last record Bad. But regardless, it has quite a few priceless gems tucked away!

The "Bad" Tour

September 12th, 1987 marked the initial day of Michael's very first solo world tour(Beginning in Tokyo, Japan). The Sequined Glove did a series of 123 concerts on over 5 continents. Wrapping it up at Los Angeles on January 27th, 1989. Just two years later.

He accumulated well over $100,000,000! $700,000 an hour! A record only he himself broke a few years down the road.
Unfortunately, this would be the last the lower 48's gets to see a Jackson touring.

In Japan alone, record-breaking attendance drove him to the likes of Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, and The Beatles. Yet Michael humbly admitted these mascots are what inspired him. Emjay was on his way to becoming the most famous human in history!

Bad Era Pepsi Commercials

In 1988, Michael again proclaimed Pepsi "The choice of a new generation". This time around with a
"Bad" twist. Not two but three commercials were made out of This Era.

Michael Jackson's "The Chase"

This was actually a four part series of him running away from crazy fans and the press. I like the part where he sneakily hides in the T.V. set. Actually twice! First in a diner. Then a mountain resort. A clever idea.

Descending down a slope, he jumps and parachutes back on stage. To finish where he started. Performing "Bad" to the masses. As if nothin' happened. I just love when Michael does these little things.

The Magic Begins

I knew something was missing from my Moonwalker Post. Not to worry. I have it right her. Just love how he dances for this ad! Brilliant!

Third Pepsi Ad

Now this has a personal touch. A little boy bashfully intrudes upon Jackson's dressing room. In hopes of bumping into him. Fantasizing on being The One! Till Michael politely chimes in a whispered tone "piss...Looking for me[smiling]?"

Eaten Alive

The cover to Diana Ross's 1985 single Eaten Alive Featuring Michael Jackson and The Bee Gees

See that Michael Jackson was successful at Thriller and on Rockwell's paranoid cliche Somebody's Watching Me, Diana Ross found it fitting to invite her old friend to duet on an equally cryptic creature feature-Eaten Alive!

A music video accompanied the single, casting Ross as a possessed demon cat. Hopelessly setting a snare to catch her next unsuspecting male victim. As if being a werewolf wasn't enough, now he wants to associate with a werecat. Geesh!

A few members of The Bee Gees can be faintly heard singing in the background. Before arriving in the studio, Michael recorded a few demos which remain unleaked to this day.

"Eaten Alive" rightly claimed #10 on the R&B Singles Chart. Her debut single off of the album by that same name.

Moonwalker Video Game

In 1989 Michael formed a partnership with Sega to co-produce an arcade block buster. Based on his most recent film. A computer and home console version are also launched in the following years.

Moonwalker Arcade Version

Plenty of posters like these were strattled on every arcade bulletin board in preparation for Moonwalker: The Game

As you walked in an arcade room back in the day, "Moonwalker" would scream "hey you! Play Me!" And why not(you thought? The guys got talent. As your hands sinking into those jean-pockets, Alas! you have a few quarters! Now let's insert them into this beautifully furbished Michael Jackson cabinet!

The arcade version has more of a street fighting twist. But instead of swinging back and forth, Michael channels magical powers from a shooting star.

Now there are a few others to save besides Katie. And even some extra villains thrown in there. You mind find it a bit tougher then her sister counterparts. But nevertheless, she's a classic.

Moonwalker:Computer Version

Co-produced by Irish Emerald Software LTD and American Keypunch Software. In addition to Sega and Michael Jackson's involvement.

Game play is very different. Instead of the film, it's based on "Speed Demon's" clamation scenes. Which I hate to break it to ya. But all computer versions have since been out of print.:(

Folks have commented(both good and bad) on the immense challenge this version brings. But anything with Claymation will sure give me a kick.

Both the Master and Genesis versions are pretty much the same(the latter containing more graphics). Many characters are left out of this version. Only an endless clone of Kattie's are left to save.

Other Bad Era Happenings

In 1988, Michael Jackson bought 2,800 acres of land from William Bone. An entrepreneur who happened to own a large golf course. Estimated at $30 million. Yet the guy easily moonwalked his way into the deal. Purchasing the property in one whole lump sum! Naming it after his favorite movie. From a place where kids never grow old-Neverland Valley Ranch.

The King of Pop had other plans for his Never-Never-Land. After acquiring the land, Jackson started building steadily on his dream. Consulting the help of child-star actor Macaulay Culkin(Yes, that Home Alone kid). They developed a movie theater, video arcade, a large processional kitchen full of chefs, an amusement park, and petting zoo. With of course a mansion. You could almost call it a villa.

He opened his ranch to disadvantaged youth even terminally ill children. It has been said on numerous occasions that just spending time with Michael Jackson has cured or reversed many illnesses(Cancer being one).

However, many critics have taunted the man needed to grow up. Children were given as much candy and sweets as they want. There was no curfew nor overburdening rules to stifle them. Some have gone as far to say Neverland was like Pinocchio's Pleasure Island. A claim Mr. Jackson finds ridiculous. But think about it. They were probably jealous. I don't see nothing wrong with being child-like. Unless being bratty, naive, and irresponsible come to mind. Being child-like and childish are two totally different things. Neverland was a place to cast all your cares aside.

It was actually on this plot of land where Michael digitally recorded his very own heartbeat to the intro of "Smooth Criminal". Originally, planned as a Country Western style gangster film. But Michael wanted a more urban nightclub atmosphere. Something more out of the 1930's.

In the same year, Mike wrote an autobiography about his life span from childhood up to that point. Instantly, it rose to the #1 New York times best seller list! Many new things were revealed in "Moonwalk". Namely his father Joseph's abusive grip on the whole family.

I Wish I had a copy. Then maybe I could share. But hey, If you know where there still selling copies, show me ASAP!;)

A few more things...

1. Michael saved a chimp he named Bubbles from a pharmaceutical lab where they made him a Ginnie Pig for a Cancer experiment.

2. It is here that Jackson becomes known as the King of Pop by having more radio time then any music artist in history! In addition to Elizabeth Taylor's 1990 speech. "Michael is the King of Pop, Soul, and R&B!"

3. In 1990, he performs "You Were There" in honor of Sammy Davis Junior. Another inspiration and icon of his.

4. Michael posed in a hyperbolic chamber in 1985. The tabloids hyped it up somewhere along the lines of living as long as a medieval king(who died at 150 during the 1600's).

5. Then they claimed he bought the remains of the fabled "Elephant Man" from the 19th century.

6. A mother falsely accused him of molestation in 1988-89(Yep, money had a lot to do with that). Which never got cleared until 2004.

7. Michael received a music artist of the decade award from old man Bush(George Herbert Walker Bush) in 1990.

9. Rumors of taking female hormones to maintain boyish vocals and ward off facial hair arose from a headline. All rubbish! Along with the claim he bleached his skin.

10. Though Michael formally disbanded from "The Jackson's". He joined with extended family for a chorus of "2300 Jackson Street". The following year, "The Jackson's" officially broke up. listen below...

Tomorrow will be all about a video game called "Moonwalker". Don't miss it!

P.S. I'm sure some of y'all know this already but here goes...

Moonwalker: The Movie

Moonwalker would become the then most watched music video of all time

On January 10th, 1989, Jackson released "Moonwalker" to grace our own VCR sets. Becoming the highest budget and most watched film for that time. All financed by the king himself.

First, we are introduced by scenes of him performing "Man in the Mirror" live on stage. With exemplary figures to draw home a point. To "Make that change".

Then it evolves into a biographical timeline from The Jackson 5 on up to the present(Bad Era). A never before seen ABC clamation film debuts along with segments of his touching Ballad "Music and me". The grooving "I Want You Back" and "The Love You Save". To the heavy sound of "Who's Lovin' You", and that lovely soundtrack about falling in love with a rat-"Ben"

Afterwords, we are teleported to Michael's post-puberty era. We are first greeted to his deeper voice in 1974 with "Dancin' Machine". "Blame it on the Boogie" along with "shake Your Body down to the Ground" and foremost "Can You Feel It" gives you a taste of what's to come. Same goes for his "off the Wall" album.

Suddenly, we are inundated with "Thriller", "Beat It", and ""Billie Jean". Along with a duet with Mick Jagger-"State of Shock". A never before seen "Human Nature" cartoon animation can be found along with a snippet to the "We Are the World".

Finally, we are transported to the "Bad Era". We see Jackson at his best on "The way you Make Me Feel" and "Dirty Diana". Then a parody of "Bad"("Badder") comes on with little Michael and friends.

Some notable characters who played a role in this film are as follows. The "Unhappily Ever After" sitcom actor Nikki Cox. "The Mighty Ducks" Brandon Quintin Adams and Michael's nephew Jermaine Jackson Jr.. The famous R&B group "Bad Boys" also can be found. John Lennon's son Sean Lennon is one of the three major kid stars.

I don't want to spoil it for you so let's get the show on the road!

Had those false allegations not rear their ugly heads at Michael, he was planning on doing a sequel to this film in the early to mid 90's.

"Bad" Session Outtakes

There are over 21 songs which never made the final cut(likely many more). As mentioned earlier, Michael intended "Bad" to be a triple-platinum album. Up to a total of 30 tracks. 10 on each set.

Due to industry standards, Quincy had to cut it down to one disc with ten tracks. But eventually, Jackson agreed(reluctantly) to do one disc. Yet his then record label allowed Michael to add just one more song-"Leave Me Alone".

Now here is the list of some other tracks which for some reason never made it on the cutting floor.

Streetwalker

Included as a bonus on the 2001 edition. I was ecstatic when this tune first reached my ears! Easily would this track top all the charts around the world! A short film was planned to promote it. But was shelved after not making it on the final cut.

I swear, you can almost hear Stevie Wonder playing the harmonica!

Fly Away

Originally written and produced by Michael Jackson. He gave it to Rebbie for her 1998 album "Yours Faithfully". "Fly Away" would of made a remarkably soothing conclusion to the album right after "Leave Me Alone".

Cheater

One of Michael's favorite "Bad" tracks. "Cheater" is another priceless jewel of an outtake! No wonder the final track selection was hard to come by!

There is a new version. Featuring the Notorious B.I.G. Which has also been shelved during the Invincible Sessions.

Al Capone

One of two demos Michael was working on where "Smooth Criminal" eventually emerged. Yet "Al Capone" is a totally different song in it's own right.

We are Here to Change the World

Now available for the Ultimate Collection, Jackson recorded this for Captain EO. A Disney 3D show that's since been taken down(1994 at The Magic Kingdom and 1997 at Disney Land). It was rejected from the final cut of the album "Bad".

Buffalo Bill

Loosely discussed on the "Unauthorized Interview. But never completed before either album release("Victory" and "Bad").

Bumper(Bad Album Snippet)

An unleaked original "Bad" album snippet featuring Michael singing "Girl, you groove me". Yet it was never finished in time. Later on, he would over-dub his voice during The Dangerous Sessions and throw in some urban sound effects. A boy can be heard saying "We create the world we live in"

But again, it was shelved as incomplete due to time constraints.

Chicago 1945

Another demo together with "Al Capone" inspired John Bernard and Michael to create "Smooth Criminal" which were shelved in favor of the latter. Yet in 2001, Chicago 1945" was reworded and reconsidered for the album "Invincible". There have been hints of it possibly being updated and included on his upcoming album(2009-10?).

Come Together(MJ Version)

Since "We are Here to Change the World" and this Beatles cover had their moments on film, Michael left them out. But in 1995, the song was added to the "History" tracklist. After not making it on the "Bad", "Days of Thunder" soundtrack, and "Decade Compilation" around 1990.

Originally, John Lennon wrote the song for the Beatles in the late 60's. Yet Michael(who owned the Lennon/McCartney Rights now expanded under the Sony/ATV umbrella which he owns half) loved this Beatle song. So much so, he insist it be the finale to "Moonwalker-The Short Films.

Crack Kills(Featuring Run DMC)
A T.V. ad saying no to drugs but never got finished in the recording studios. Michael did not like where rap was going. Of course that's before Rodney Jenkins came into his life. Not only that but the members of the group never got along with Mike and Quincy.

Hot Fever-Later became what we now know as "The Way You Make Me Feel".

Price of Fame-Planned for a Pepsi shoot. Until "Bad" replaced it. And has been shelved to this day.

Tomboy-As the tittle implies, Michael has a crush on a chick. Who's fondly into sports and other guy activities.

Pyramid Girl-
A demo for the Victory and Bad sessions. Eventually tuned out to be Liberian Girl.

A Pretty Face-An old Jackson 5 outtake Michael wanted to remake for the album "Bad". But sadly, it never made the cut.

Color Of My Soul-It was believed Michael and Randy collaborated with another girl. It's still in production hell to this day. Both brothers formally left the Jackson's in '86.

Eatin' Alive(Duet With Diana Ross)-Although a duet had already been released in 1985. Michael recorded his own demo version that never found a spot on the "Bad" album. But you can listen to the duet Here.

Five other songs never made it. No info has surfaced. Except what you see here.

"What You Do To Me"
"Get In To The Groove"(possibly "Black or White's" demo)
"Turning Me Off"
"Neverland Landing"(Beware: a fake leak is lurking around)
"Throwin' Your Life Away"

Join with me tomorrow as we talk about "Moonwalker"!

Leave Me Alone

Only available in Europe, Leave Me Alone nevertheless became a radio sensation!

The single never made it right here in the States. But the U.K. topped it out at #2. The song itself became a radio sensation over night!

The composition has an 80ish sensation. With a strong beat prominent during that time. Much like repetitively slamming wood in a carpenters warehouse or iron in a factory. I love the strong keys getting beefed-up to a tune.Hard to believe. All this comes from Michael Jackson's head?!

7" Single
1."Leave Me Alone"–4:40
2."Human Nature"–4:05

12" Single
1."Leave Me Alone"–4:40
2."Human Nature"–4:05
3. "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough"–6:04

Leave Me Alone-The Short Film

The video starts out on a typical 80's hydrolix scene where everything falls up from his RV. Many artists have used this feat on there music videos if you'd could remember staying up late watching MTV.

Here we have Michael's first satire on the media. Labeling the tabloids as hound dogs. Desperate to get a story. Then hype it up to their fancy. So more people would buy their headlines.

From the hyperbolic chamber, Elizabeth's shrine, to The Elephant Man. Although many artists have done such feats, for Michael it just got way out of hand.

Eventually Jackson portrays himself as Gulliver. Just like how they tied him up on small island. So yellow journalism attempts to bound Mr. Jackson on Neverland. In the short film, Michael breaks free from the constraints of the media. Unfortunately, reality never allowed him that luxury.

Smooth Criminal

The seventh and final single to come off of The Bad Album

It was 1988. Michael breaks yet another record as the first(and currently only) artist to generate seven top 30 singles off one album! "Smooth Criminal" landed at number 7. Partially attributed to his "Lean".

In '93, Mr. Jackson applied for a patent. To safe keep him as the inventor of the boots that enabled him to do "The Lean". This gravity-defying stunt is not unique to Michael Jackson. It goes way back to the late-1800s. However, when it comes to performing the stunt with only platform shoes, he is definitely the first! Many gasped at the sight of Michael leaning at a 45-degree angle with no apparent support on the film.

Initially, the music video was supposed to have a more western themed style. But later was abandoned for a more 1930's nightclub feel. Both "Club 1945" and "Al Capone" were inspired by a demo of "Smooth Criminal" in 1985. These two early versions plus the western take are believed to be hiding somewhere inside Jackson's vault.

The scenes from "Smooth Criminal" are inspired by Fred Astaire. Particularly his 1952 musical "The Girl Hunt Ballad". The final number to "The Band Wagon". I believe Michael wanted to pay tribute to Fred as he died in 1987.

With "Smooth Criminal's" hyperventilating pace and antique rhythm, It's no wonder his fedora took on a new infatuation! Many school children desperately tried to mimic "The Lean" to no avail.

Smooth Criminal-The Short Film

After the shear Funk of "Thriller", the media was buzzing upon hearing leaked information that Michael Jackson was starring in another spooktacular! This time boogieing in a lounge with ghosts! In a way, they were right! However, the hype stops right there as Halloween was not on his smooth agenda. The press has always been infamous for over-hyping things just a bit.

Michael walks down a dark street alley and enters an abandoned clubhouse. Many murders have been attributed to this nightclub(including Annie who was struck down in her apartment just upstairs) Eventually The Great Depression forced it's doors to permanently close.

Mysteriously one by one, each member of that club was murdered by what Michael calls "A Smooth Criminal". It is believed each night the spirits of the club replay the scene over and over again. Hoping if someone will see what really happened that fateful night 50 years ago. Luckily, Michael happens to take a visit and play along with the scene.

Michael walks through a warp into Club 30's. After tossing a quarter into the jukebox, the whole joint comes to life with fervor! Astonished to learn he knows the whole story, the spirits become one with the dance as Jackson leads them into a procession.

The ghosts that have been haunting this facility are now free to ascend to the heavens while Mr. Jackson resumes his role as the protagonist on the movie Moonwalker.

Lyrics

As He Came Into The Window

Dirty Diana

Michael's final single to hit #1 off of the Bad Album

If you thought "Beat It" was a little off the hook with Eddie Van Helen, You ain't seen nothin' yet! Steve Stevens now is Heavy Metaling with The King of Pop!

Jimmy Hendricks is one of Michael's idol. Had he not revert to any drugs, I firmly believe Jimmy would've been up there collaborating with Michael Jackson.

Now just what did Michael mean by saying those words "dirty Diana"? Many speculated his long-time idol Diana Ross who got a little promiscuous in the 80's. However, Jackson revealed no connection whatsoever to his life-long friend. But later, Michael would reveal it to be about a groupie much like "Billie Jean".

During one of his concerts at Wembley Stadium. Princess Diana thought she'd come for a visit. Out of utter respect, Michael left the song out. But ironically, this was her absolute favorite! They became the best of friends from thereafter. As a matter of fact, the song Privacy was inspired by her tragic death in 1997.

The Single

"Dirty Diana" was Michael's 5th consecutive #1 hit single! Already, a new record was broken! Now, "The Gloved One" has surpassed "The Purple One" in all his prestige!

1. Dirty Diana–4:42(note: this longer version eventually got mixed out with the 7" version. No leaks have surfaced to date)
2. 7" Version-4:52
3. Instrumental on Vinyl–4:42

Dirty Diana-The Short Film

Michael has a crush on a girl. But finds out the hard way, she's a groupie. So he composes a tune. All about Diana's dirty tricks. Going from man to man and trapping them into her web of lies.

Later, he performed this number to warn his fans about the trappings of an adulterous woman. Not realizing she was back-stage smooching with another guy-right behind his back.

With the cheers of the crowd still within ear drop. He opens the back-seat door and can smell it. She was fooling around with another guy. Right in his own limo! Michael's glad that whore is out of his life!

Lyrics

You'll never make me stay
So take your weight off of me
I know your every move
So won't you just let me be
I've been here times before
But I was to blind to see
That you seduce every man
This time you won't seduce me

She's saying that's ok
Hey baby do what you please
I have the stuff the you want
I am the thing that you need
She looked me deep in the eyes
She's touchin' me so to start
She says there's no turnin' back
She trapped me in her heart

Dirty Diana, nah
Dirty Diana, nah
Dirty Diana, no
Dirty Diana
Let me be!

Oh no...
Oh no...
Oh no...

She likes the boys in the band
She knows when they come to town
Every musician's fan after the
curtain comes down
She waits at backstage doors
For those who have prestige
Who promise fortune and fame
A life that's so carefree

She's says that's ok
Hey baby do what you want
I'll be your night lovin' thing
I'll be the freak you can taunt
And I don't care what you say
I want to go too far
I'll be your everything
If you make me a star

Dirty Diana, nah
Dirty Diana, nah
Dirty Diana, no
Dirty Diana...
Dirty Diana, nah
Dirty Diana, nah
Dirty Diana, nah
Dirty Diana, no
Dirty Diana...
Diana!
Diana!
Dirty Diana!
It's Dia...aa...aa...ana!

She said I have to go home
'Cause I'm real tired you see
But I hate sleppin' alone
Why don't you come with me
I said my baby's at home
She's probably worried tonight
I didn't call on the phone to
Say that I'm alright

Diana walked up to me,
She said I'm all yours tonight
At that I ran to the phone
Sayin' baby I'm alright
I said but unlock the door.
Because I forgot the key.
She said he's not coming back
Because he's slepping with me

Dirty Diana, nah
Dirty Diana, nah
Dirty Diana, nah
Dirty Diana, no

I Just Can't Stop Loving You

Michael Jackson's debut single for Bad I Just Can't Stop Loving You

Not to rush anybody to Michael's new image, he gives us a final glimpse of his soft persona. "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" debuts at #1 with it's romantic aura and pure Ballad infatuation.

Siedah Garrett played that lover as a gypsy girl. After Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Barbra Streisand, and Agnetha Fältskog declined the offer(due to time constraints). Quincy called Ms. Garrett into the studio. Without even knowing it, she was bidden to get on the mic! The result was so terrific, Michael invited her to tour with him.

This was his first single from the "Bad" Sessions. Which also smacked the Billboard charts at #1. Coincidentally, on my third birthday(I'm now 24). He recorded a French and Spanish version. Of which the ladder can be heard from the 2001 Bad Special Edition.

An intro did exist. And is believed to be on a few rare promos. Lucky you! I've got it right here!
